Rick Fisher has spent the last forty five years in the travel industry with extensive sales management experience in the retail travel agency, travel supplier, national travel consortium, and online travel business sectors. In May, 1989, Rick, founded Condominium Travel Associates, the first and only North American network of travel agencies to specialize in the marketing and promotion of vacation rentals. The travel consortium had approximately 300 travel agency members located throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Rick was approached in August, 2000 by Hotels.com to launch their new vacation rental division …Condosaver.com. In less than seven years Condosaver had grown and evolved to become the leading online vacation rental company and one of the more
profitable business groups for parent Expedia Inc.
The VRMA (Vacation Rental Managers Association), in February, 2009 engaged the services of Rick as a full time consultant to assist the association with targeted and priority growth initiatives including membership, corporate sponsorships, new member benefit programs, and the development and launching of the PBS television series… “Getting Away Together.”
In September, 2013 Rick was approached to help launch and grow the newly formed national association OPMA ( Onsite Property Management Association ) www.theopma.org. His focus is and has been on membership procurement, the introduction of new member benefit programs and marketing initiatives, and to assist in the public relations / media efforts to create greater awareness of OPMA with consumers, owners, onsite managers, and the supplier community.
Rick is a native of Muskegon, Michigan and is a graduate of the University of Michigan and the Institut de Touraine, in Tours, France. He resides in Palm Springs, California with his wife Kathy and has two grown children Adam and Krystina.
John Dalton has consulted and trained in almost every aspect of the travel industry. He served in the management ranks of TWA for 10 years. He managed their largest reservations center in LAX, developed the first industry sales and marketing travel agency training courses and participated in the development of PARS, one of the first GDS systems.
During his tenure at the headquarters of AAA John was responsible for the development and marketing of travel agency programs for all AAA clubs in the U.S. and Canada before becoming a trainer, consultant and negotiator for the entire tourism industry.
He then became the first executive of the Hickory Association which was one of the first mega travel agency groups to focus on corporate travel. As Director of Training for Travel Trade magazine he was instrumental in creating the Cruise –A –Thon and Tour trade shows which were the highest attended travel functions in North America…
He was the first to use video for training travel industry personnel. His most widely circulated videos were John’s innovative sales and marketing approaches contained in his Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) video training.
Over the years John has consulted to almost every major cruise line, tour operator (Tauck, Colette, Insight, Trafalgar, Mayflower and many others.), car rental firm, travel agency consortium and franchise in the industry. Loews, Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton and Choice are among the many franchise and independent hotel companies for whom John has provided consulting services, developed training programs and has been a featured speaker at their conferences.
John is a frequent speaker at travel industry conferences addressing both corporate and vacation travel. His ability to stay ahead of the trends has helped travel organizations to introduce innovative concepts and to offer differentiation, target marketing and provide
cost leadership to better serve their clientele and to increase their profits.
In August, 2014 John joined OPMA as the association’s Chief Marketing Strategist. He resides in Charlotte, North Carolina with his wife Sara.
